Sooner Ladies Win Big Over Southeastern Oklahoma State In Exhibition Tune Up

USA TODAY Sports

The games count for real a week from Friday but on Wednesday evening Oklahoma's women's basketball team cruised to an easy 106-59 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State.

All thirteen players suited up for OU made their way onto the court and twelve of the thirteen scored. Peyton Little made her debut with the team, after sitting out last season due to the NCAA transfer rule, and scored 16 points. Another player making her debut was freshman point guard Gabby Ortiz who recorded a team-high 10 rebounds. Nicole Koret hit four 3-point shots and led the team in scoring with 18 points.

"I am really proud of our guys' effort," Oklahoma head coach Sherri Coale said. "I thought everybody who played competed and played really hard. They did some really good things. There is plenty to work on but we did some really good things so I am pleased."

While the Sooners were rolling up big numbers over an outmatched Division II school, the crowd of just over 2,000 was wanting to see Maddie Manning make her return to the court following an ACL injury that she suffered in a scrimmage last season. In her 18 minutes played Manning scored 8 points and recorded 5 boards.

"It feels good to get that fi rst one out of the way was pretty great," Manning said after the game. "I'll be honest I was nervous all day. That feeling of putting the jersey on again was great. It was a pretty special day."

Oklahoma will host Washington on Friday November 14th for their season opener.
