It's been no secret that outside of Sterling Shepard the Sooners have had a lack of consistency at the WR position. To further complicate things, Shepard could conceivably declare for the NFL draft after this year (I don't think this is likely, but you never know). Michiah Quick flashed a little in the Kansas State game, and Durron Neal has been so-so.
The Sooners have decided to offer a prospect that is absolutely destroying the competition at the JUCO level. That player is Dede Westbrook. Westbrook stars for Blinn Junior College in Brenham, TX. His is putting up ridiculous stats compiling an eye-popping 69 receptions for 1336 yards to go along with 11 touchdowns. This is just through 7 games.
Dede Westbrook confirmed the offer through twitter with the following tweet.
Would like to thank Oklahoma Sooners for the offer #BoomerSooner— Dede Westbrook (@DshizzzNitssss) October 17, 2014
Westbrook has seen his stock soar and has picked up offers from Baylor, WVU, Arizona St, Utah, TTech, and the Sooners over the past few weeks.
The Sooners will most likely host Westbrook as an official visitor when the Baylor Bears come to Norman in November.
