Texas and Oklahoma met for their annual gridiron clash and when it was all said and done the OU flag was planted firmly where it belongs, at midfield in the Cotton Bowl. The Sooners beat Texas for the fourth time in five years and Bob Stoops surpassed Barry Switzer's nine victories over the Longhorns to become Oklahoma's all-time winning coach against Texas.
As the Sooners were properly welcoming Charlie Strong to the Red River Rivalry (I think the Longhorns just had another false start), we wanted to dig in to see what their fans were saying during the game. To do that we decided to check in with the gang over at Burnt Orange Nation.
We'll start out with some typical pregame drivel. The answer is no, you aren't insane at all.
am I insane for thinking we have a shot today?
Here's some good Texas grammar for ya.
Its 10.43a, I'm already a little buzzed, and OU STILL SUCKS
They apparently have a prophet over at B.O.N. as well.
I'm thinking today's game is closer than last week's game.
This would become an ongoing theme through the day.
And false start to start the game
There isn't a single person in the world that has confidence in Big 12 officiating. The Horns were sweating out the early fumble that was returned for a score.
Even after getting the call to go their way (and it was the right call), Texas fans weren't satisfied.
Another false start!
Is that 2 on Swaim now?
An early lead had Texas fans feeling pretty good.
Then Alex Ross happened.
Ooops! A Texas false start.
4th False Start
And a holding penalty.
This is another true statement. Texas will only go as far as their defense can take them this year. They are the real deal!
Not gonna lie, this made me chuckle.
A special teams blunder. Sterling Shepard gets drilled before he had a chance to catch the punt.
Field goal, Oklahoma!
Pick Six for Zack Sanchez!
False start by Texas.
...and 5th False Start
Texas scored to make it 17-10 in the second quarter.
The Texas defense was dominating OU. Seriously, they were!
They're on to you Josh Heupel!
Touchdown Oklahoma! Trevor Knight to Sterling Shepard.
The glimmer of hope is starting to fade.
Touchdown Samaje Perine!
Frustration starting to set in of for Texas fans.
Delay of game on Texas.
Texas scores and we're all OK now.
Texas scores again and life is now good.
Oh now! Sooners have the ball and are running the clock. Big 3rd down conversion.
Game over. Sooners win 31-26!
