Joseph Paul Becomes Latest Coveted Recruit To Commit To Sooners

The Sooners go back to Louisiana to nab latest offensive line recruit

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

With Oklahoma's Sugar Bowl win still making waves on the recruiting trail the Sooners have gone back to the scene of the crime for their latest 2014 commitment. New Orleans native Joseph Paul made his verbal commitment on Wednesday night. Paul, a 6-4/340 offensive guard is a two-star recruit per Rivals and a three-star by Scout.

He was recruited to Oklahoma by Jerry Montgomery but had also drawn offers from Florida State, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M and five other schools.

Perhaps the best part of Paul's commitment is that he's teammates with Courtney Garnett who gave Paul a shout out on Twitter Wednesday evening.

Garnett is a coveted defensive tackle who has narrowed his choices down to USC, Tennessee and Oklahoma, with the Vols and Sooners seeming to be in the lead.

Oklahoma now has 21 verbal commitments for 2014 and the addition of Paul bumps them to Rival's #17 ranked class of 2014.

Welcome to the Sooner Nation, Joseph. Now could you help us out a little with your friend as well?
