Sooners commit Brandon Glenn expected to sign with a juco instead - Ryan Aber - NewsOK
Irving (Texas) Ranchview defensive end Brandon Glenn has been committed to Oklahoma since mid-June.
Now it appears the 6-foot-3, 285-pound Glenn will sign elsewhere next week instead of signing with the Sooners on signing day.
Glenn will sign with Navarro (Texas) Junior College for academic reasons, Ranchview coach Terry Smith said Wednesday.
MBB | Sooners doing something no other team in college basketball is doing - Ryan Aber - NewsOK
One of the keys to Oklahoma's basketball success so far this season has been its solid fortune with players staying healthy.
The Sooners have lost only five games to injury and none by starters. Je'lon Hornbeak missed four games with a broken foot and Tyler Neal missed the Sooners' Dec. 8 game against George Mason.
Also, with all the tinkering Lon Kruger and staff have done to Oklahoma's defense, what they haven't done it juggle the lineup. Sure, Hornbeak played late in a couple games in place of starter Jordan Woodard but Woodard never was taken out of the starting lineup.
In every game this season, Woodard, Cam Clark, Isaiah Cousins, Buddy Hield and Ryan Spangler have been the Sooners' starters.
Pay for play for college athletes? Debate is only getting started - John Klien - Tulsa World
College coaches and administrators have long said that collegiate athletes are getting paid.
Those student-athletes get scholarships worth thousands of dollars and perhaps millions in future earnings. However, that ignored some basic facts that may now become a major issue as a group of Northwestern University athletes filed Tuesday to become certified as a college players union by the National Labor Relations Board.
This is a legal issue that will no doubt stir a heated debate for obvious reasons.
