Gabe Lynn stepped in front of a Paul Millard pass and nabbed his first ever career interception last Saturday night. A few plays later he scooped up a fumble and returned it 27 yards before being run out of bounds. Through two weeks of the season Lynn has been instrumental in helping the Sooners restore a defense that was in bad need of restoration.
After helping the defense to limiting West Virginia to just one offense score on Saturday night, Lynn was named the Big Twelve's defensive player of the week on Monday.
"Gabe (Lynn) has really worked hard. He's a very versatile player. He does a lot of things well. And I think we finally got the right position for him where he's really comfortable. He's in a position to make plays. I'm really pleased with how Gabe's played." - Mike Stoops
To date, Oklahoma has the nation's 4th best scoring defense, allowing just 3.5 points per game, and are first in the Big Twelve in yards per game and second in rush defense.
