Friday Locks | Siding With The Cyclones

Our Friday Locks sections takes up sides with Paul Rhodes and the Iowa State Cyclones this week.

USA TODAY Sports

If picking football games were easy then everyone would do it. Well, OK, if it were easy then Rich and I would be able to challenge Jordan in this little contest of ours. As it is we're just doing good to not get too far underwater and not show our complete ignorance.

Name Last Week Season
Rich 3-0 4-2
Matt 2-1 3-3
Jordan 1-2 3-3

Kudos to Rich for a perfect weekend last week and his current lead on the season. Kudos to Jordan for having mercy on us by having a bad week which is extremely rare for him. Kudos to me for not having a losing record.

Both Rich and Jordan like the Iowa State Cyclones in their annual rivalry with Iowa. As much as a fan that I am of Paul Rhodes I just don't want to touch that game.

Let us know where you agree or disagree, as well as some of the games that you like and are keeping an eye on.

Jordan

Iowa State (+2.5) vs. Iowa - Home dog in a rivalry game?  Give me the points and Paul Rhoads.

Washington (-9.5) at Illinois - I've been hesitant to buy in on this Washington team, but against Illinois I'm not sure how much risk there may be even for a road game.

Penn State (-5.5) vs. UCF - The Nittany Lions are the home team.  Analysis.

Rich

Alabama (-7.5) vs Texas A&M - All year long, Bama has been prepping for this one game. I think fuel has been added to the fire with the Manziel stories. No way Bama lets this one slip as they look to make a statement.

Wisconsin (+5.5) vs Arizona St. - I'm still not sure how the Badgers come in as an underdog here.

Iowa St. (+2.5) vs Iowa - Neither team is particularly out matched this year. However I like Paul Rhodes and his chances to win this outright.

Matt

Air Force (+23.5) at Boise St. - I actually like the Broncos to win this game but I believe that the Falcons can keep it to within three touchdowns.

Georgia St. (+40) at West Virginia - Forty points is a lot to give to a Mountaineers team that has not shown an ability to be explosive on offense.

UCLA (+4.5) at Nebraska - I guess I'm all about the underdogs this week. Not only do I like the Bruins and the points, I like UCLA to win this game outright.
