OU Football Recruiting | Sooners Add Their 14th Verbal In 2014 Class

Matthew Emmons-US PRESSWIRE

Oklahoma picked up their fourteenth verbal commitment in the Class of 2014 Tuesday evening when Mesquite (TX) offensive lineman Jonathan Alvarez (VIDEOannounced his decision on Twitter.

The 6'3" 300 pounder was in Norman this past weekend on an unofficial visit and evidently saw all that he needed to see considering he didn't actually receive an offer from the OU coaches until earlier Tuesday afternoon.

There isn't a ton of information or video currently available on Alvarez at the moment, but what film there is you can see just how physically imposing he can be.  He has played center more recently, but also capable of playing guard as well. Which is somewhat interesting with respect to where the coaches are recruiting him because of the only other 2014 offensive line commit the Sooners currently have in Alex Dalton.

Dalton is also a guard who is believed to be recruited as a center by the OU coaches.  Regardless of where either eventually winds up, they are both welcome additions for an OU team projected to have just four interior linemen next year based on their current roster.

Prior to his commitment, Alvarez did not have the most impressive offer list (Houston, Louisiana-Monroe, New Mexico State), but was also being recruited by TCU and is reportedly have an impressive senior season.
