OU Football 2013 | Kickoff Times & Television Information Released For Several Games

Tim Heitman-US PRESSWIRE

The Big 12 Conference announced several kickoff times and the related television details for a number of games in the upcoming 2013 season. The Oklahoma Sooners were obviously included in that announcement and with it we now know a little bit more about OU's schedule.

We'll go in chronological order:

Saturday, August 31: Oklahoma vs. Louisiana-Monroe - 6:00 p.m. (CST) - FSN (PPV)
Saturday, September 7: Oklahoma vs. West Virginia - 6:00 p.m. (CST) - FOX
Saturday, September 14: Oklahoma vs. Tulsa - 11:00 a.m. (CST) - ABC, ESPN, or ESPN2
Saturday, September 28: Oklahoma at Notre Dame - 2:30 p.m. (CST) - NBC
Thursday, November 7: Oklahoma at Baylor - 6:30 p.m. (CST) - FOX Sports 1

Items of note:

  • We already knew about the Notre Dame and Baylor games. The Thursday game is something the OU brass have refused to do in the past, but all Big 12 teams will be forced into these type of games with the television deal in place with Fox Sports. Also Baylor related, FOX Sports 1 (or FS1) is a national sports network, similar in theory to ESPN, that FOX will be launching in the coming months.
  • OU vs. ULM - That's not a typo. It's listed as a pay-per-view game, which we were all under the impression would no longer be happening with the inception of Sooner Sports TV. Apparently we were wrong. Now, this could still change and I suspect OU is already getting feedback of the negative variety about the possibility of forcing their fans to shell out $60 bucks for a game yet again.
  • No surprise that the OU/Texas game has yet to be assigned a kickoff time at this point.

I suspect the focus here will be on the possible pay-per-view game and that makes sense. Besides that, anything else stand out to you after this announcement?
