Oklahoma just couldn't put a bat on the ball and it caused them to come out on the wrong end of a pitcher's duel. The Sooners were held to just three hits through the game and two of them came from Matt Oberste. When OU did manage to get runners on base they ended up getting stranded. Oklahoma had multiple runners aboard three different times but was never able to bat them around.
Dallas Baptist freshman pitcher Cory Taylor was exceptional as he fanned seven Sooner batters and allowed just three hits through his five innings of work. The Patriots bullpen was just as efficient as the relief pitchers held Oklahoma to just one hit through the final four innings.

Sooner starter Adam Choplick suffered in injury in the first inning and didn't return to the mound in the second. He gave up the lead run in the bottom of the first when Duncan McAlpine scored Ronnie Mitchell on a single. Dallas Baptist added another run in the bottom of the eighth which would be more than enough against the slumping Sooners.
This loss may have killed Oklahoma's chances at hosting a regional. DBU had an RPI ranking of 164 before this game. Oklahoma was sitting at 46 and will no doubt see a significant drop. A regular season conference title may still do the trick but the pressure is certainly on.
The Sooners travel to Morgantown this weekend to play West Verginia.
