As first reported by ESPN, Oklahoma reserve quarterback Drew Allen could be making a decision soon as to where he'll transfer to use his final year of eligibility.
Reports have indicated that Allen is likely to be deciding between Syracuse, North Carolina State, and possibly Arkansas State. Jason Kersey of The Oklahoman is reporting that a source has informed him that Allen will decide between Syracuse and North Carolina State. Kersey also states that Syracuse is believed to be the favorite with Allen being a fan of their offensive system.
Syracuse is looking to replace starter Ryan Nassib who attempted nearly 500 passes last season while putting up 3,749 passing yards and 26 passing touchdowns.
Allen is on schedule go graduate in May and would be eligible to play immediately as a result of what many consider to be somewhat of a loophole NCAA rule. The NCAA allows student-athletes to transfer without penalty if they are pursuing a graduate degree not offered at their current institution.
While he had the unfortunate timing of coming in just one year after eventual four year starter Landry Jones, Allen is a talented quarterback in his own right. He's more athletic than many give him credit for and he has a strong throwing arm, capable of making all the necessary throws. His experience on the field is obviously limited, but he is experienced nonetheless having been in Oklahoma's system for the past four years.
