The Red/White game is an annual event not only for the coaches, players, and fans, but it's also a high profile event for prospective recruits. It's as close to a game day type atmosphere as you can get this time of year and thus it's one of the best opportunities for a school to showcase all they have to offer.
Oklahoma will be hosting a number of recruits over the weekend and have a legitimate chance to receive multiple commitments. As it currently stands, following the recent loss of wide receiver Armanti Foreman, the Sooners only have two verbal commitments in this 2014 class. So, needless to say they could use some positive momentum when it comes to this 2014 recruiting class. No better time than this weekend to recapture some of that momentum.
Below is a list of several of the prospects expected to make the trip to Norman*, including a number of players who have already signed with Oklahoma as a part of their 2013 class and the aforementioned two 2014 verbals. Both of which could help to secure a commitment or two this weekend as who better to sell the program than those who have already bought in.
(*This would be where we give you the obligatory 'this list could change' comment as plans change all the time and players listed below could not show up or players none of the recruiting services knew were coming make the trek to Norman.)
2014
OT Ty Barrett 6'4" 309 lbs (Dallas, TX) - VIDEO: Barrett comes from a program (Skyline) with a history of producing a healthy amount of D-I talent. He has the size and talent to develop into a prototype athletic tackle the Sooners routinely target.
S Steven Parker 6'2" 185 lbs (Jenks, OK) - VIDEO: One of OU's first 2014 offers, the standout safety from in-state power Jenks has long been atop the Sooners' wish list. Just the fact he possesses an offer from Alabama should tell you pretty much all you need to know.
WR Dallis Todd 6'5" 205 lbs (La Mirada, CA) - VIDEO: You might not think it given the fact he resides in California, but Todd has professed to growing up an OU fan. He has family in the Norman and Oklahoma City offer, so he has a built-in connection to the Sooners. We're all aware of the success Oklahoma has had pulling in talent from the west coast, Todd would be another significant addition were they to secure his commitment.
DE Deondre Clark 6'3" 231 lbs (Oklahoma City, OK) - VIDEO: Clark could easily prove to be the top player in the state of Oklahoma by the end of his senior season, but he's given every indication that he has very little interest of staying in-state.
RB Lawrence Evitt 5'7" 165 lbs (Wagoner, OK) - VIDEO: Don't let his size fool you, Evitt is a workhorse and not afraid to take on a tackler (or two). He's a big favorite of the OU message board recruiting aficionado, but the Sooners are likely to be highly selective with their remaining running backs in this 2014 class.
WR Keenan Brown 6'3" 185 lbs (Houston, TX) - VIDEO: A big receiver who knows how to use long arms and leaping ability to high point the football.
OT Jovan Pruitt 6'5" 275 lbs (Dallas, TX) - VIDEO: A very talented tackle who is starting to draw attention from a number of programs. There is some question whether or not this visit happens with talk as of late that he may take a trip to Arkansas instead.
LB/S Christian Sam 6'2" 206 lbs (Allen, TX) - VIDEO: The Sooners are looking heavily at the Allen program in this 2014 class with both Sam and his teammate Tay Evans drawing interest from OU.
WR Corey Holmes 6'2" 174 lbs (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) - VIDEO: Another prospect coming a long distance to take a first-hand look at what the Sooners have to offer. Plays primarily in the slot for his high school team, but could play there or on the outside in college. Holmes has very good hands and excels in open space with his quickness and agility.
ATH Michael Farmer 6'2" 207 lbs (Edmond, OK) - VIDEO: Farmer is currently an Arizona State commit, but is coming off a serious knee injury and has not received the attention on the recruiting trail as a result. Oklahoma could be looking at him as a replacement for Trey Millard at the fullback position.
2015
OG Zach Rogers 6'3" 274 lbs (Lewisville, TX) - VIDEO: Rogers is already drawing a number of impressive offers from the likes of Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and UCLA. He's a mauler on the inside who plays with a real mean streak.
OT Jalin Barnett 6'4" 310 lbs (Lawton, OK) - VIDEO: Barnett could be a special talent and the Sooners wasted little time throwing their hat into the ring.
