A rough week just got a little rougher for Oklahoma's baseball team. The Sooners fell 5-3 to USC on Friday night marking the first time this season that they've dropped back-to-back games (OU lost to UT Arlington on Tuesday night). The loss also marked the first time this year that Oklahoma ace Dillon Overton failed to win a start. He entered the game with a 4-0 record over his previous four starts this season.

The Trojans were able to get to Overton by recording four runs off 13 hits while the southpaw managed to strike out four USC batters. Meanwhile, for the second game in a row, the Sooners failed to get the clutch hits they needed to bring runners home. Oklahoma left a total of eight runners stranded over the course of the game.
USC drew first blood, scoring a run in the bottom of the third when Timmy Robinson scored on a Adam Landecker double to put the Trojans up 1-0. Oklahoma answered right back by plating two runs in the top of the fourth. Max White and Matt Oberste both reached base and scored to give the Sooners a 2-1 lead and then the two teams would trade runs the next inning to make it 3-2 on favor of OU at the end of the fifth.
Unfortunately that would be the end of Oklahoma's scoring while USC would bring in two runs in the sixth and another in the eighth to come out on top by a final of 5-3.
Matt Oberste and Anthony Hermelyn each recorded two hits to tally half of Oklahoma's eight hits on the night. The Sooners also recorded two errors on the game. Oberste's single and double kept his hitting streak alive.
Oklahoma continues their west coast swing on Saturday afternoon when the visit UCLA.
