The last time that the Sooners and Mavericks played each other it was UTA walking off the field in L. Dale Mitchell Park with a 10-3 win last season. Texas Arlington has a 7-4 overall record and is coming off a three-game sweep of Louisiana Tech over the weekend, in which they scored 20 runs.

The Mavericks have eight players batting .300 or better, led by Darien McLemore who is hitting .400 in his 25 at bats. Matt Shortall (.382) has the team's only home run and Justin Copeland (.357) has knocked in a team high 10 RBI. It appears that they'll be going up against Ethan Carnes who will be making his first start of the season. Carnes has thrown 4.2 innings of relief this season with six strikeouts and a 3.86 ERA.

UTA will be throwing Chase Weaver to make this a match-up of left handed starting pitchers. Weaver has an 0-0 record this season with a 2.84 ERA and five strikeouts in 6.1 innings pitched. He'll have his work cut out for him as he faces a Sooner lineup that features six players batting .300 or better. Matt Oberste has been absolutely on fire this season, batting .444 with team highs in home runs (4) and RBI (19).
