As reports of a private plane crash in Indiana began to come out Sunday evening, there was some speculation that former Oklahoma quarterback Steve Davis may have been one of the passengers. With the world of social media and the need of people to be the first one to report something, the hope was that the reports regarding Davis would be inaccurate.
Unfortunately as Jason Kersey (The Oklahoman) and Eric Bailey (Tulsa World) have now been able to confirm, it appears as though the initial reports were accurate. According to multiple reports, Davis was in fact one of the passengers who died in the plane crash.
A two-time national champion (1974 & 1975), Davis had a 32-1-1 career record as the starting quarterback at Oklahoma. Following his time in Norman, Davis went on to broadcast college football for 18 years. Many OU fans know he had recently returned to broadcasting with Sooner Sports TV during the most recent Oklahoma football season.
Our thoughts and prayers here at Crimson and Cream Machine are certainly with Davis and his family in this time of their significant loss.
