Oklahoma's first of several Junior Days taking place this weekend has already paid with a verbal commitment, their second for the Class of 2014, in Lancaster (TX) safety/outside linebacker Vontre McQuinnie.
Unfortunately, there isn't any free/public video of McQuinnie for us to share with you but the 6'1" 195 pound Lancaster product compares pretty favorably with Oklahoma 2013 commit, Dominique Alexander. Both are in the mold of that hybrid linebacker/safety that the Sooners seem to covet.
Oklahoma was his first offer and he obviously pounced on it committing on the spot during the Junior Day activities. McQuinnie could be the first of a couple commitments to come out of this weekend (we've yet to hear anything from guys like Justice Hansen and Steven Parker) or he could be the only one. Regardless, the OU coaches pushing up the dates of their Junior Days and making both 2014 and 2015 offers is a very positive sign they knew something needed to change in their approach and have taken the steps to do so.
As we mentioned, with his verbal commitment McQuinnie become the second member of Oklahoma's 2014 class joining Texas City (TX) wide receiver Armanti Foreman.
Welcome to Sooner Nation, Vontre!
