In the week's opening season, Oklahoma players swept the Big 12's player and pitcher of the week awards following their four game sweep of Hofstra over the weekend.
Dillon Overton and Matt Oberste were honored for their respective performances in the season opening series. Overton struck out seven in his seven innings of work, while allowing just two hits to help power No. 14 Oklahoma to a 10-4 victory over Hofstra on Friday.
From the Big 12:
Oberste's one-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning propelled No. 14 Oklahoma to a 7-4 victory over Hofstra Sunday at L. Dale Mitchell Park in Norman and secured a four-game weekend series sweep. Oberste capped off a big opening weekend with his game-winning bomb. He hit .429 with six hits - including a double, a triple and the homer - while driving in a team-high nine runs. His clutch hitting helped the Sooners rally for a three-run ninth inning Saturday night, as he cracked a two-out, two-RBI single to knot the contest at 10-all and send the game into extras. After the first week of play, his nine RBI and 12 total bases lead the Big 12.
