UPDATE: Kruger confirms that Hamilton will indeed transfer.

Following one of Oklahoma men's basketball open practices, Lon Kruger spoke briefly with the media members in attendance and explained junior forward Keshaun Hamilton's absence.

Kruger said the 6'10" 275 pound junior college transfer and one of the few big men on this OU roster is considering a possible transfer.  Evidently, despite the lack of bodies in front of him Hamilton, according to Kruger, is concerned with his playing time.  Kruger said he was hopeful that Hamilton would stay and redshirt this season.

While Hamilton might not have been expected to contribute significantly on the offensive end, he size is something this team desperately needs in the middle.

Without him, Oklahoma would really only be left with true big men in Ryan Spangler and D.J. Bennett.  They obviously plan to ask Cam Clark to play the four and Tyler Neal has played down low some throughout his career, but both are guys that opposing teams can take advantage of at times.

If Hamilton does decide to transfer, it would be a loss if for no other reason than he's a big body in the middle who can give you five fouls.

We'll be sure to keep you apprised of the latest as soon as Hamilton's decision becomes public.
