As first reported by Ryan Aber of The Oklahoman, Oklahoma baseball pitching coach Jack Giese will not be returning to the program for the 2014 season.

Head coach Pete Hughes released a statement Tuesday evening thanking Giese for his contributions to the program and wishing him luck in the future.  There was no explanation as to why Giese would not be returning.

It's a strange turn of events considering Giese remained in Norman despite speculation he would follow former OU head coach Sunny Golloway to Auburn.

Regardless, the loss of Giese is a significant one both from a coaching and recruiting perspective.  According to Aber, Hughes did not provide any kind of a timetable as to when he would fill the now vacant pitching coach position.
