OU Football Down Two Starters For Kansas State Game

UPDATE: Jake Trotter has confirmed the KOCO report that Bester will be suspended as well.  So the Sooners are now down two starters for Saturday's game.

Word started to circulate on OU message boards late Tuesday evening about a possible suspension for Sooners running back Damien Williams.  At the time, it seemed like your typical message board rumor mill talk.  However, it has been confirmed Wednesday by multiple sources that Williams will indeed be suspended for this weekend's game against Kansas State.

And that's not the only bad news. At the time of this post, there is a report from KOCO News that wide receiver Lacoltan Bester could also miss Saturday's game as well.

While running back and wide receiver are both positions where this Oklahoma offense has a considerable amount of depth, the loss of both is still a significant one for an offense that has struggled pretty much the entire season.

Expect Brennan Clay and Roy Finch to be asked to pick up the slack in Williams absence.  Naturally, OU fans would wonder about Keith Ford but the expectation at this point is that he won't be available while still recovering from the ankle injury he suffered against Baylor.  Which could also even potentially mean meaningful carries from Alex Ross for the first time in his OU career.

If this Bester report proves to be true, expect to see some combination of Jaz Reynolds and Durron Neal on the outside.  Or possibly even redshirt freshman Derrick Woods.

We don't need to tell you down two starters mid-week wouldn't exactly ideal as you prepare for what figures to be a very difficult road test in Manhattan.
