Kansas did their best to look every bit the part of the Big Twelve's worst football team on Saturday. The Jayhawks lost three fumbles had and interception and attempted possibly the worst fake punt in college football history. Meanwhile Texas Tech, still looking the part of a contender, racked up 54 points and over 500 yards of offense in the blowout win.
Things started off well for Kansas, who led 10-0 after the first, but then the wheels quickly fell off. Tech scored on every second possession and took a 20-10 lead into the locker room at the half. The onslaught would continue into the third quarter as the Jayhawks were plagued by turnovers and the Red Raiders scored on their first three possessions.
The win may have been costly for Texas Tech though as freshman quarterback Baker Mayfield went down with an apparent leg injury and was helped off the field. Mayfield didn't return to the game. Davis Webb was 3/6 for 36 yards and two touchdowns while filling in for Mayfield.
