Friday Locks: Eyeing Big Ten Games This Weekend

New, 3 comments

We're looking at the Big Ten this weekend for our Friday Locks.

I know that the bottom is gonna drop out at some point for us but for right now I think we've got this figured out. We've had a great month at picking games. I've got a formula that I created and has allowed me to be 9-0 over the last three weeks, Rich throws a dart at a paper on the wall, and Jordan is an absolute genius when it comes to picking winners. Regardless of the method, the results have been good through the first five weeks of the season.

Last Week

Now, moving on to this week's games, the game Rich and Jordan are keying on is Michigan State at Iowa and they both like the same side. Here's what we're picking this week. Make sure to chime in with your own thoughts in the comments section below.

Okie State (-14) vs. Kansas State - Stating the obvious, this line is lower than it would have normally been had the Pokes not lost last week in Morgantown.  Back home and facing a Bill Snyder team that looks uncharacteristically bad, I think OSU covers this number pretty easily.

LSU (-10) at Mississippi State - I don't care that it's a road game or at night, I saw enough of MSU in their opener (against Ok. State) to know Lester should have no issue here (especially coming off that loss to UGA last week).

Michigan State (-1) at Iowa - The Spartans went from getting a point and a half to a one point favorite, seems fishy.  Or at least fishy enough for me to follow the money and take MSU.

Virginia Tech (-7.5) vs North Carolina - this is a Hokies team looking to crack the top 25. Of course many are passing up on them at this point but this could be the week it happens. VT will come in with a solid game plan to cover.

Michigan St. (-1) vs Iowa - there is a reason that Sparty has been successful...defense. They consistently rank near the top in the nation in nearly every defensive category. With a 1.5 spread, I'd say a few stops make all the difference as MSU wins comfortably.

Georgia (-10.5) vs Tennessee - needless to say this is a down Tennessee team. With the offenses starting to spring up in the SEC and Georgia pushing the envelope, they will be too much for this "SEC Defense."

Ball State (+5.5) at Virginia - Small conference vs. big conference but the thing you have to look at here is the Virginia offense (102nd in the nation) vs. an aggressive Ball State defense. I can see the Cardinals winning this game flat out.

Miami, FL (-5) vs. Georgia Tech - Regardless of whether Miami quarterback Steven Morris plays or not, the Hurricanes are more than a touchdown better that Georgia Tech at home.

Ohio State (-7) at Northwestern - Its wake up time for the Wildcats. Ohio State wants to make a statement to their doubters. This is a nationally televised game and the Buckeyes will shine.
