Opponent Watch: Texas Tech Grinds Out 24-13 Win At Iowa State

Before traveling to Ames to play Iowa State, Texas Tech's schedule was slightly a step above air. The Red Raiders were undefeated but wins against Northwestern State, Texas State and New Mexico really didn't go a long way in telling anyone anything about Tech.

We know now. Texas Tech was able to mount a second half comeback against Iowa State (who was also undefeated) on the arm of quarterback Seth Doege, who threw for 301 yards and three scores. Kenny Williams added 80 yards on the ground and the Red Raiders' offense produced 406 total yards at an average of 5.3 yards per play.

Doege was plagued by to interceptions that kept Iowa State in the game but ultimately he was able to mount the comeback after ISU took a 13-7 lead in the second half. Eric Ward was his go to guy, hauling in nine passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. The Texas Tech offensive attack was slanted towards the passing side with 45 passing attempts to 32 rushing.

Iowa State couldn't muster very much offense against Texas Tech. Despite being tied 7-7 at the half, the Cyclones had less than 70 yards of total offense. They ended up with a paltry 190 yards total and four turnovers. Tech held ISU to an average of just 3.1 yards per play and Cyclone quarterback Steele Jantz to under 75 total passing yards.
