OU Men's Basketball - Sooners Pick Up Commitment From Another 2013 JUCO

Sooners Pick Up Another 2013 Commitment

Denny Medley-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Oklahoma Sooners men's basketball coach, Lon Kruger, continues to fill out his 2013 class and made another addition late Monday night. Following a visit this past weekend, 6'10" 280 pound JUCO big man Keshaun Hamilton has verbally committed to Oklahoma according to multiple reports.

There isn't exactly a ton of information on the interwebs regarding Hamilton, but what little there is seems to be very positive. He's a bit raw as a prospect, still learning how to use his massive frame to his advantage inside, but everyone who has seen him play as come away impressed.

Here are some quotes we were able to find via OUHoops.com via jucorecruiting.com:

Hamilton had a nagging injury all summer so he didn't play in any July events which caused him to fly under the radar a bit. The 6-10/270 pound lefty has tons of potential and has a chance to be one of the better post players in the country this season.

Hamilton is an intriguing prospect. He is entering his freshman year at Santa Fe and is a highly sought after 2013 prospect. The left-handed power forward moves extremely well for his size (nearly 300 lbs.) and can shoot the ball out to 20 feet. He has great hands and feet and is tough to defend around the basket. Hamilton will need to continue to improve his conditioning and should be able to do so with two years at Santa Fe. He will be one of the most heavily recruited 2013 JC prospects. Hamilton had West Virginia, Kansas State and many others taking a look at him in Orlando.

While Hamilton may remain something of a mystery at the moment, what is clear is the fact that Kruger is not afraid to bring in JUCO players if he feels they can improve this team/program. A welcome change after the debacle that was Jeff Capel and his refusal to both recruit JUCO players and ignore local talent. Junior college players were a fixture of the OU basketball program under Kelvin Sampson and the success of many of those players led directly to success on the court. It's nice to see Kruger explore any and all options to return this basketball program to the success it deserves.

Making the commitment all the more sweeter, Hamilton was reportedly down to OU and Oklahoma State. Hamilton joins point guard Jordan Woodard and fellow JUCO big man Dominique Elliott as commitments in Oklahoma's class of 2013.

Welcome to Sooner Nation Keshaun!
