The Oklahoma Softball team boasts the National Player of the Year and she was straight filthy Friday night against the #1 ranked team in the Women's College World Series. The Sooners' Keilani Ricketts was flat out dominant against Cal, striking out 16 of a possible 21 while pitching the complete game shutout and leading OU to the victory.
The Sooners defeated Cal 3-0 behind and Ricketts and some timely hitting by the OU bats. Freshman superstar Lauren Chamberlain drove in the game's first run with an RBI double in the third. Oklahoma would another a second run courtesy of a bases loaded walk in the fourth. Then Aussie transplant, Georgia Casey, would lead off the sixth inning with a solo homerun over the left centerfield wall and that was more than enough for Ricketts.
Oklahoma advances to Sunday's play as the Sooners will get the benefit of an off day on Saturday. Make no mistake, this was a big time win and a message to all the other teams in Oklahoma City. The Sooners are for real.
