Youth, lackadaisical play, miscommunication and some downright boneheaded plays have cost Oklahoma this season on the baseball diamond. However, even at that, the Sooners are in position to finish third in the Big XII and secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Its not a done deal yet, by any stretch, but it certainly is a possibility as OU's postseason hopes rest on three games today.
Baylor at Texas (1:00 - CST): Oklahoma is needing a Baylor sweep here to move up in the rankings and so far the Bears are obliging. Baylor won 16-5 on Thursday night and then 4-0 on Friday. Another Texas loss today would bump Oklahoma up to fourth place in the conference standings.
Texas A&M at Oklahoma State (1:00 - CST): Again, Oklahoma was needing a sweep in this series as well, but it didn't really matter who got swept. Both games have been extremely close with the Aggies coming out on top so that means we're hoping for a Texas A&M sweep. Should they take down OSU today and the Longhorns fall to Baylor then the Sooners would move up to third in the conference.
Samford at Oklahoma (2:00 - CST): This game/series has no bearing on the Big XII standings but it does go a long way towards Oklahoma's RPI rankings. The talk in the OU press box on Thursday night was that if the Sooners take the series then they're in the tournament. After dropping Thursday's game, Oklahoma bounced back and won Friday night to force a rubber match this afternoon.
