In the midst of what has been a spectacular and record breaking season for the OU Softball team, the Sooners capped it off in appropriate fashion Saturday. The Sooners scored a run rule victory (12 - 1) over Iowa State and in doing so won the Big 12 Championship outright. The championship represents the Sooners fifth regular season Big 12 title and their ninth overall (four Big 12 tournament championships).

In addition to the team's accomplishment, true freshman superstar Lauren Chamberlain also broke the Big 12's regular season home run record. Chamberlain hit two more home runs in the game to add to her now record breaking season total of twenty five. The Sooners as a team have hit 84 home runs on the season which is just one off the school record which was set by the 2000 squad and the last time OU won the national championship.

Congrats to all the ladies on this year's team as well as the outstanding coaching staff! Big 12 Championships, it's just what we do here in Oklahoma!
