OU Football Recruiting - Sooners 2013 QB Target To Announce Decision Wednesday

Up to this point in the 2013 recruiting process, there is only one quarterback in the entire country that can claim an offer from the Oklahoma Sooners. That player is Sammamish (WA) QB Max Browne, who also just so happens to be the top quarterback prospect in the entire 2013 class according to at least one major recruiting service.

Browne visited Oklahoma several weeks ago and raved about what he and his father saw and all that Oklahoma had to offer. He also just visited USC this past weekend spending the same extended amount of time (Thursday thru Saturday) as he did in Oklahoma trying to take in everything both of his believed favorite two schools have to offer. Now reports are that Browne has stated he will announce his decision this Wednesday night following a team workout for this high school team.

There are two fairly obvious ways to look at this turn of events.

1. His decision to announce so quickly after a visit to USC that reportedly went as well as anyone could have hoped does not bode well for Oklahoma fans. He can see the opportunity that the Trojans have with Matt Barkley leaving after this coming year and no real heir apparent waiting in the wings.

2. His decision to announce Wednesday even after a successful trip to USC means that even though the Trojans likely pulled out all the stops, Browne was not as impressed as he was with the Sooners and his relationship with OC Josh Heupel put OU over the top.

Obviously we'll find out on Wednesday night, but between now and then could be some nervous anticipation as we await the decision from the top quarterback in this recruiting class. Try and save a fingernail or two people. If you forced me to choose, I'd say it's probably USC (I'm sure you're stunned to see me pessimistic on this!). I want to be wrong. I really, really want to be wrong. We'll find out Wednesday night.
