Its insanely ridiculous how good the Baylor Bears are playing right now. They have won 15 consecutive Big XII conference games and 21 games in a row overall. Let's put that in perspective just a little bit. The next longest winning streak within the conference is Oklahoma's which stands at five games. Meanwhile three other Big XII teams are currently riding losing streaks.
Team | Overall Record | What Happened Last Week |
Baylor | 32-7 | When you've won 21 games in a row you've swept a lot of people. Among Baylor's victims over the last week are Louisiana-Monroe (2 games), Kansas State (3 games) and Texas A&M Corpus Christie (2 games). Catcher Josh Ludy was the Big XII's Player of the Week this week and outfielder Michael Howard shared the Newcomer of the Week honors. |
Kansas | 15-23 | Although they lost the series to Texas A&M the Jayhawks did snap an eight-game losing streak by beating he Aggies 5-3 on Sunday. That spurred a three-game winning streak that also included wins over Baker and St. Mary's on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. |
Kansas State | 19-18 | A 3-0 loss to Missouri State last Tuesday night and a sweep at the hands of Baylor sent the Wildcats on a four game losing streak. They've bounced back this week a mid-week two game sweep over Northern Colorado. |
Missouri | 18-17 | Not a good week for the Tigers last week. They won against Arkansas-Little Rock and Illinois in their mid-week games before getting swept by the Sooners in Norman. |
Oklahoma | 23-14 | The Sooners scored a 4-0 win over #9 Arkansas in Norman last Tuesday night. They then swept Missouri over weekend before traveling to Tulsa to beat ORU 6-3 on Tuesday night of this week. Pitcher Damien Magnifico shared the Big XII Newcomer of the Week award this week. |
Oklahoma State | 19-17 | The Cowboys lost a weekend series to Texas two games to one (3-1W, 5-0L, 3-2L) and then lost to Wichita State 2-1 on Tuesday night of this week before finally notching another win last night against Northeastern State. |
Texas | 21-13 | The Longhorns abused Texas A&M Corpus Christi 9-1 last Tuesday night then took two of three games from Oklahoma State before ending their week of baseball with a 2-0 win over Texas State on Tuesday night. |
Texas A&M | 28-9 | Shockingly the Aggies are 2-3 over their last five games but it does include a 2-1 series win over Kansas. They lost to UT Arlington last Tuesday night and then dropped a mid-week game this week to Rice. Michael Wacha was named the Big XII Player of the Week this week. |
Texas Tech | 22-17 | The Red Raiders took a break from conference play last week and were riding a four-game winning streak that included a win over Dallas Baptist and a three-game sweep over Houston but ran into some trouble in mid-week games this week by dropping a two game series against New Mexico. |
