When we started to gather up the list of names for recruits that are planning on attending this weekend's Spring Game, the list just kept getting longer and longer. And with every name that was added, the level of talent expected to be in Norman got more impressive seemingly with each addition. In talking with SoonerScoop's Josh McCuistion on Twitter, he stated that if everyone expected actually makes the trip it could be the biggest recruiting weekend for the Sooners since 2009. Coming from a guy who does this for a living and in my opinion is the best in the business, that's some pretty high praise.
Now as we've warned you in the past, this list is in no way a guarantee that the respective player actually makes it to campus. Plans change all the time, so just keep that in mind as you go forward.
Here is the most recent list of visitors expected to be in Norman this weekend for the Sooners 2012 Spring Game:
2012 Signees
QB Trevor Knight
OG John Michael McGee
CB Zack Sanchez
OT Kyle Marrs
OT Will Latu
WR Sterling Shepard
DE Michael Onuoha
RB David Smith
2013 Commits
RB Keith Ford (VIDEO) Cypress Ranch (Cypress, TX)
DE Matt Dimon (VIDEO) Katy (Katy, TX)
2013 Targets
DE D.J. Ward (VIDEO) Lawton (Lawton, OK) - Ward is the consensus #1 player in the state of Oklahoma and a player who will be making yet another trip to Norman. The Sooners are believed to be in the lead by a healthy margin even though Ward does not appear to be in a hurry to announce a decision. That said, news of his commitment to OU could really come at any time. OU offer (Y)
DT Justin Manning (VIDEO) Kimball (Dallas, TX) - There is a chance this one could fall through, but the news that Manning could likely be in Norman for the second time in recent weeks is music to OU fans ears. There was talk of the talented DT being upset about how the OU coaches handled his scholarship offer, but that seems to have blown over and many believe the Sooners are currently sitting in the driver seat. OU offer (Y)
WR Laquon Treadwell (VIDEO) Crete Monee (Crete, IL) - Treadwell is a Top 5 WR and the #31 overall player according to Rivals and a player who only somewhat recently popped up on the OU radar, but has repeatedly spoken very highly of the Sooners in interviews. He and 2012 signee RB David Smith know each other (both hail from Illinois) which has given OU a bit of an in with one of the nation's elite 2013 wide receivers. OU offer (Y)
CB Cole Luke (VIDEO) Hamilton (Chandler, AZ) - Luke is one of the top targets at corner for the Sooners in this 2013 class and a player both Tim Kish and Mike Stoops have been working hard on. Luke has all the signs of a future lockdown cover corner and would be a great get for this defensive staff. There have been whispers that a commitment is not out of the question. OU offer (Y)
S George Baltimore (VIDEO) Mansfield (Mansfield, TX) - Baltimore is a hard hitting safety who the Sooners have had their eye on for some time. At 5'11" 195 pounds, he's a little smaller than the prototypical safety Mike Stoops tends to prefer but his ability to defend both the run and pass may force the OU defensive coordinator to look past the measurables. OU offer (N)
RB Adam Taylor (VIDEO) Katy (Katy, TX) - At one point, with his teammate Matt Dimon committed, it was believed Taylor could be the Sooners second RB in this 2013 class. However, after Greg Bryant's commitment a couple weeks ago the likelihood of Taylor and the Sooners is decreased significantly. OU could keep the lines of communication open in case something were to change with Ford/Bryant. OU offer (Y)
DT Hardreck WalkerWestfield (Houston, TX) - Walker is a player whose recruitment has really started to pick up as of late. He is a guy with a relentless motor and prides himself in his ability to get off blocks. DT isn't a huge position of need for OU in this 2013 class, so aside from Manning the Sooners will likely take their time with respect to handing out offers at DT. OU offer (N)
OT Dalton Rodriguez (VIDEO) Union (Tulsa, OK) - Rodriguez has played mainly defensive end during his high school career, but the Sooners are actually considering him at offensive tackle. He was originally believed to be focusing on schools primarily out west, but both his interest in Oklahoma and their interest in him has picked up as of late. OU offer (N)
LB Chad Whitener (VIDEO) Mansfield (Mansfield, TX) OU offer (N)
S Erik Huhn (VIDEO) Steele (Cibolo, TX) OU offer (Y)
S Khari Harding (VIDEO) Santa Fe (Edmond, OK) OU offer (N)
S Alfred Pullom (VIDEO) Cypress Woods (Cypress, TX) OU offer (N)
CB Maurice Chandler (VIDEO) Lawton (Lawton, OK) OU offer (N)
OT Jesse Robinson (VIDEO) L.D. Bell (Hurst, TX) OU offer (N)
TE Charlie Reid All Saints Episcopal (Ft. Worth, TX) OU offer (N)
Other possible visitors - DB Stanvon Taylor, DB Devanta Johnson, LB T.J. Ponds, LB Devin Rolan
2014 Targets
QB Justice Hansen (VIDEO) Santa Fe (Edmond, OK) - Hansen is likely to be the top 2014 prospect in the state, a potential five star player, and the highest rated quarterback to come out of Oklahoma in some time. He is easily the Sooners top target at the position in the 2014 class. The talk early has been that OU would really have to screw things up for him not to sign with his childhood favorite and stay close to home. He does a little bit of everything in his film, showing a plus arm, and much more mobility than most would expect. There are some minor issues with his throwing motion, but that is something Josh Heupel could easily adjust. Hansen is the reason Oklahoma is not freaking out about losing their top 2013 target in Max Browne.
RB Devon Thomas (VIDEO) Broken Arrow (Broken Arrow, OK) - Thomas is another player expected to be amongst the top in the state for the 2014 class. He is also a player who already holds an offer from the Sooners which should tell you just how highly they think of the powerful back as they rarely offer kids this early in their high school careers. Including Thomas, OU already has their eye on a couple elite 2014 running backs so the Broken Arrow star will have some competition but make no mistake he'll be at the top of the Sooners wish list.
WR Jakari Dillard (VIDEO) Princeton (Princeton, TX) - Dillard is the son of former OU defensive lineman Stacey Dillard.
WR Bobby Baze (VIDEO) Red Oak (Red Oak, TX)
LB Cameron Hampton (VIDEO) Carter (Dallas, TX)
RB Corey Avery (VIDEO) Carter (Dallas, TX)
ATH Kai Collins Guthrie (Guthrie, OK)
OT Demetrius Knox (VIDEO) All Saints Episcopal (Ft. Worth, TX)
WR Marcus Perkins (VIDEO) Naaman Forest (Garland, TX)
OT Blake Blackmar (VIDEO) Clear Lake (Houston, TX)
QB Coleman Key (VIDEO) Owasso (Owasso, OK)
RB Michael Farmer (VIDEO) Edmond Memorial (Edmond, OK)
ATH Ronnie Larue (VIDEO) Red Oak (Red Oak, TX)
LB Cordell Dorsey Abilene Cooper (Abilene, TX)
