Big XII Baseball Update (3-6-12)

Texas A&M may have fallen flat on its face as the preseason pick to win the conference in basketball but the Aggies are soaring in baseball. With a weekend sweep the Aggies have now won six in a row and have an impressive 11-1 season record. How does that stack up with the way the rest of the conference is doing? Let's take a look.

Team Overall Record What Happened Last Week
Baylor 9-4 The Bears downed Sam Houston State (6-2) on Tuesday and then went 2-2 over the weekend with wins against UC Irvine (4-2, 6-1) and losses to Lamar (8-0, 8-7).
Kansas 5-5 The Jayhawks went 0-3 in the UTSA Tournament over the weekend with loses to UTSA (7-4), Louisiana-Lafayette (8-6) and Gonzaga (7-2).
Kansas State 5-5 The Wildcats hosted Pacific University over the weekend and after dropping the first game (7-2) the came back and won the series with a 12-1 win on Saturday and 9-3 on Sunday.
Missouri 4-5 The Tigers started off their weekend series against Ball State with a 5-2 loss but came back with wins on Saturday (15-5) and Sunday (9-2) to take the series two games to one.
Oklahoma 7-3 Before pulling off a weekend sweep over New Mexico the Sooners were dominated by UT Arlington 10-3 on Wednesday night. Pitcher Jordan John was named the Big XII Co-Pitcher of the Week.
Oklahoma State 6-6 A 2-1 series loss to TCU capped an awful week for Cowboy baseball. OSU lost to Missouri State (7-1) on Wednesday night and then took the series opener against the Frogs (4-3) on Friday before falling on Saturday (2-0) and Sunday (6-5).
Texas 4-7 The Longhorns snapped a five game losing streak on Tuesday with a 2-0 win over Houston Baptist and then beat Rice (11-8) on Friday in their opening game game of the Houston College Classic before falling to Tennessee (5-4) on Saturday and Arkansas (7-3) on Sunday. Jonathan Walsh and Brooks Marlow earned conference honors.
Texas A&M 11-6 The Aggies won a two-game set against Northwestern State with wins on Tuesday (14-10) and Wednesday (8-1) and then swept Michigan State over the weekend with 7-3, 4-0 and 9-8 wins. Ross Stripling was named the Big XII Co-Pitcher of the Week.
Texas Tech 9-3 Went 1-2 in the Houston College Classic with losses to Arkansas (3-1) and Rice (6-2) before beating (10-4) on Sunday.
