According to a report from James Hale on Sportstalk 1400 (KREF), the Oklahoma women's basketball team has suffered their third player defection this week. Hale stated that backup point guard DaShawn Harden has decided to transfer, but could not give any specific reasons as to why. It's somewhat bizarre in that Harden played quite a bit this past season and seemed to be developing into a primed to take over the point in another year or two.
As we said, this is not the third player to leave the women's program within the span of a week. The natural reaction would be one of concern anytime you lose multiple players in such a short period of time, so it will be interesting to see if Sherri Coale will address it (doubtful IMO).
As to how this could impact the team, it obviously hurts their depth at point guard but they will get Jasmine Hartman back next year after she missed this past season with a torn ACL. However Hartman isn't nearly as athletic or the shooter Harden was so it won't exactly be an even swap.
Good luck to DaShawn, really wish it could have worked out for her here in Norman.
