OU Basketball Picks Up 2012 Commitment From SG Isaiah Cousins

(Cousins is on the Blue Team, #11)

Coach Lon Kruger and the Sooners hard work on the recruiting trail was rewarded this morning according to a report from the 24/7 Oklahoma site, OU Insider ($), who has learned that shooting guard Isaiah Cousins has committed to the Sooners. Cousins was reported to be on campus Monday for an official visit and obviously with the news of his commitment we can safely assume that visit went pretty well.

Cousins is a 6'4" 188 pound guard who spends a lot of his time on the wing. He's a player that excels at slashing to the basket and using his body control to finish after contact. However at 188 pounds that will be much easier to do at the high school level, so he'll definitely need to hit the weight room to prepare himself of the physical punishment of a full D-I basketball schedule. He's a fairly consistent shooter from outside and behind the three point arc, but his shot can be off at times when he's forced out of his rhythm.

Cousins held offers from Connecticut, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, and Xavier among others and was expected to be highly sought after in this late recruiting period. Guards and big men were what this team needed heading into next season and Coach Kruger has reeled in a nice late addition to this 2012 OU class.

Welcome to Sooner Nation Isaiah!
