OU Women's Basketball - Sooners Get Blow Out Win Over Cal State Northridge

Brendan Maloney-US PRESSWIRE

It's amazing how easy this game can look when your shots are going in. And that's what this Oklahoma team experienced Saturday afternoon in their blowout win over Cal State Northridge. Oklahoma lead by as many as 32 points at one point in the second half. The Sooners won 79-57 behind 12 three pointers, 23 assists, and a 49-36 rebounding advantage.

Aaryn Ellenberg finished with a game high 24 points and an impressive seven rebounds for a player who is listed at just 5'7". Ellenberg was red hot in the first half helping to lead her team to a 13 point halftime lead.

Portia Durrett (14), Nicole Griffin (11), and Sharane Campbell (10) joined Ellenberg in double figures. In fact, Durrett recorded her first career double-double also finishing with ten rebounds. It was a welcome sight for a player who has really struggled early in the season with the step up in competition at the D-I level compared to the junior college ranks.

Oklahoma's win was even comfortable enough to get some playing time for the two recent additions to the roster who came over from the volleyball team. Both Eden Williams and Tara Dunn got in the game around the four minute mark in the second half, but neither recorded any stats.

The Sooners return to action Wednesday at 7 p.m. (CST) in their Big 12 opener when they will host West Virginia.
