There was expected to be at least one commitment following Oklahoma's emotional Bedlam win Saturday, it just so happened to come from a player (and a position) that few even knew about, let alone expected.
Multiple reports Monday night were confirming that junior college punter, Jed Barnett, has committed to Oklahoma following a visit to Norman this past weekend. Barnett had been committed to Louisiana Tech, but chose the Sooners after a positive experience on his visit.
Barnett was previously a preferred walk-on with California before choosing to leave the program and going the JUCO route. He spent the last year at Laney Community College averaging 41.3 yards per punt attempt.
His commitment pretty much came out of nowhere as the Oklahoma coaches had really only been talking with one another for a couple weeks. With his commitment, Barnett is now the 13th member of Oklahoma's current Class of 2013.
Welcome to Sooner Nation, Jed!
