News of 2014 Broken Arrow running back Devon Thomas' commitment just mere minutes after Oklahoma's come-from-behind win in Morgantown, both of which were somewhat shocking in their own right. We've covered the latter part of that already so we'll address the former now.

While Thomas is easily one of the top players in the state in his respective class, to say this season has been a disappointment would be an understatement. He was suspended at one point, missing multiple games, and there was a report from SoonerScoop.com that during his most recent playoff game Thomas was seen on the sideline, out of his pads, while the game was still on-going. There had even been speculation as to just how serious Oklahoma's interest in Thomas had been as of late.

The thought all along was that Oklahoma had two primary running back targets at running back in the 2014 class, Thomas and Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV) product Nathan Starks (VIDEO). So is this a situation where Thomas took advantage of an offer while it was still out there? And what exactly does this mean for OU and Starks? The first we'll probably never know, the second of course only time will tell.

As for now, Oklahoma lands its second verbal commitment in the 2014 class while also once keeping one of the state's top players close to home. It's hard to really view that as a bad thing, but I'd be lying if I said this one doesn't have a bit of an odd feel to it.
