Oklahoma junior Amath M'Baye was named the Big 12's Preseason Newcomer of the Year on Thursday as the conference released their preseason men's basketball awards. According to the Big 12, M'Baye is just the second foreign native (he is originally from France) in Big 12 history to earn a major preseason men's basketball award.
However, M'Baye was not the only Sooner recognized on Thursday as both Steven Pledger and Romero Osby were selected as honorable mentions for the Preseason All-Big 12 Team as well.
Yes, at the end of the day they're just ultimately meaningless preseason awards but do not ignore the fact that even being recognized is a testament to both these players as well as to where Lon Kruger has the program headed.
These Sooners could be sneaky good this year and personally I can't wait to see them on the court!
