With dueling announcements, Oklahoma targets Zach Banner and Zack Sanchez announced their decisions just minutes apart. While the Sooners missed out on the massive tackle (Banner) from Washington, the sting was quickly eased by the news that Sanchez had chosen to de-commit from the Baylor Bears and confirmed the speculation that he would become an Oklahoma Sooner.
Sanchez, out of Keller Central high school in Texas, is a three star prospect (per Rivals) but looks to be the kind of underrated player OU finds late in the process, gets on campus, and develops into a solid contributor/potential star. Sanchez has shown above average ball skills while also being outstanding in run support. Both of which are qualities that new Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops frequently looks for in his defensive backs.
The Sooners only got involved with Sanchez a couple weeks ago, but the allure of everything they had to offer was simply too much for the talented CB to pass up. In addition to Baylor and Oklahoma, Sanchez also held offers from Boise State, Houston, Kansas, and Kansas State.
Welcome to Sooner Nation Zack!
