I just had to share something I read this morning over on SoonerScoop ($), it was too good not to. I know it's behind a pay wall, so I'll try and give you the gist of it hopefully without angering anyone over at SoonerScoop. Essentially the article was about trying to replace Travis Lewis' presence now that he's expected to miss some time with the broken bone in his big toe. So I'm reading along and then I come across this absolute gem of a quote from MLB Tom Wort talking about how they are looking for ways to replace Lewis' emotional intensity on the field.
But OU coaches seem to have struck a nerve with Wort during film study. Wort has found something to hold on to in terms of his demeanor during games.
Professional wrestling.
"All of us as linebackers have stepped up and we're kind of basing our demeanor on the field after the Ultimate Warrior," explained Wort. "We had a long day of film and Coach V was happy with our performance in practice and he wanted to loosen it up a bit and one of our assistant coaches pulled it up. The highlights of him doing celebrations and how hyped he got, and none of us knew him before."
Now you tell me, seriously, how could that not get you fired up?
