Oklahoma's baseball team continues to struggle to score runs and now find themselves on the brink of elimination from the NCAA baseball tournament. After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning the Sooners rallied to build a 2-1 lead and then squandered it away in the ninth, eventually falling to third seeded Dallas Baptist 3-2 in ten innings.
Now Oklahoma faces in-state rival Oral Roberts who lost to top seeded TCU 10-2 on Friday evening. For Oklahoma to survive the Ft. Worth Regional they now must beat ORU this afternoon, then the loser of Dallas Baptist/TCU this evening. The must then follow that up by winning two games on Sunday.
Oklahoma's problem on Friday afternoon wasn't getting runners on, it was getting them home. Absent of clutch hitting the Sooners left nine base runners stranded against DBU.
"Pitched well enough to win," said Golloway on Rocha's performance. Those are games he won early in the year when we were swinging the bats. That's probably the hardest part.
"Michael won those games early in the year because we scored runs. We scored runs in the Big 12 against some really talented pitchers. There's no excuse. They pitched, they played well and they got timely hits. They deserved to win today; there's no doubt."
