For the second time in a week, the Oklahoma Sooners have secured a verbal commitment from one of the most highly regarded prospects at their respective position (#2 overall OG according to Rivals. Wednesday night, the Sooners got their latest commitment in the form of massive young offensive lineman John Michael McGee from Texarkana, TX. McGee checks in at 6'4" 275 and while he plays tackle for his high school, he projects to play on the inside at the D-1 level.
McGee, like recent center commit Ty Darlington, looks like the prototypical OU offensive lineman who is agile for a big man and capable of getting to the second level and extending the run game. He has exceptional feet and consistent pad level for a kid his size and his ability to potentially play all five positions along the o-line only increases his upside. Perhaps more importantly for an offensive line that has been lacking it, he's another young kid who has shown a bit of a mean streak.
McGee turned down offers from Missouri (the rivalry lives on), Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Michigan, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Stanford, TCU, and USC to become the 10th member of the OU class of 2012.
