Happy Memorial Day

New, 3 comments

While "happy" is not the term I would use to describe Memorial Day, it is used as a way to talk about holidays. Memorial Day is often a day that is celebrated with parades and ceremonies while for others, it is a time of remembrance as well as reflection. Today is a day in which we honor our fallen soldiers who fought valiantly defending our freedom. As I am in Washington DC this weekend, I have been able to take in many of the sites, from the Korean War to the Vietnam War to the World Wars, while reflecting on the sacrifices the men and women of this country have made. Let us remember today those who have fallen in our nation's service.

The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. - Abe Lincoln
