The #8 Missouri Tigers have been the main story of the 2011 Big 12 Baseball Tournament through the first two days. After beating the top seeded Texas Longhorns on the first day the Tigers downed fourth seeded Oklahoma State on Thursday. Now they've earned a day off on Friday as Texas and Oklahoma State battle out to stay alive. The winner will have to beat Missouri twice on Saturday to advance to Sunday's championship. The Longhorns moved into Friday's game after sending the Baylor Bears home with a 6-1 win.
Also earning a day off on Friday are the Texas A&M Aggies who launched Kansas State into the losers bracket Thursday evening with a 4-1 win. This sets up a rematch with Oklahoma and Kansas State after the Sooners sent Texas Tech home behind a stellar performance from pitcher Burch Smith leading Oklahoma to a 3-1 win.
Oklahoma still must find more offense to survive beyond Friday and have any hope of beating A&M twice on Saturday but a pitching performance like Smith's is a good start.
