Updated Big 12 Baseball Standings - Sooners In 3rd Place

Don't look now but Oklahoma's baseball team has quietly put together a nine game winning streak dating back to May 1st. Involved in that streak is a four game surge in conference play with a win over the Texas Longhorns and a series sweep over the Kansas Jayhawks. Now the Sooners head into their final weekend of Big 12 play before the conference tournament to play the Baylor Bears who subsequently put OU in third place over the weekend.

While the Sooners were taking a break from Big 12 play while hosting New Mexico over the weekend in a four game series the Baylor Bears were taking two of three games from Oklahoma State in Stillwater. The result was the Cowboys falling to 13-10 in conference play which places them a game behind the Sooners.

With two games missing from the schedule due to weather cancellations against Missouri and Nebraska the best Oklahoma can do in conference is third place and that's where they sit right now. The key is going to be solidifying that standing this weekend when they travel to Waco to take on the Bears. A sweep over the Bears is the only way to guarantee a third place finish but with OSU playing at Texas Tech this weekend you've got to like the Sooners' chances if they can take two of three in Waco.
