2011 Baseball Preview: Outfield

Oklahoma's 2011 outfield would have been set had it not been for one position change. Max White is transitioning from left field last season to replacing Danny Black at second base this season. That leaves an open competition for left field with Ricky Eisenberg most likely the one to beat out.

The right and center field positions are set with Cody Reine and Chris Ellison returning to those positions from last season. However, its the left field position that will be the measure of success for this unit and most likely for the team this season.

Right Field - Cody Reine: A junior from Walker, Louisiana, Reine started 31 games in right field last season. He batted .340 for the season with 10 homeruns and 42 RBIs. He was Oklahoma's most powerful hitter in the post season 5 homers during the NCAA tournament.

Center Field - Chris Ellison: A junior from Norman, Ellison started 55 games at center field in 2010. He batted .326 with 4 homeruns and 32 RBIs. He's Oklahoma's speedster as well and finished 3rd in the Big 12 with 24 stolen bases.

Left Field - Ricky Eisenberg: A senior from Seal Beach, California, Eisenberg started 18 games in the outfield last season but none of them were in left. He also spent a lot of time as Oklahoma's DH. For the season he batted .275 with 3 homeruns and 12 RBIs.

Erik Ross could split time with Eisenberg in left field as the competition for the full-time starter could go into the season.
