Oklahoma has continued their late flurry of running back offers with the news that the Sooners offered local product, Norman h.s. RB Donovan Roberts. Roberts is currently committed to Arkansas, but many believe that it could be just a matter of time before he switches to the Sooners. Before committing to the Razorbacks, he was very open about his affinity for OU and was very much hoping for an offer. For whatever reason, that offer never came and Roberts gave his verbal to Arkansas rather than hope and wait for the OU coaches to come around.
Well now it appears the Sooners have determined the stout RB from their own backyard warrants an offer for a spot in their 2012 class. Many of us who follow recruiting have been curious as to why exactly Roberts did not receive an offer before now, but all that matter now is he has one and could quickly become the latest member of the OU class of 2012.
Roberts certainly fits the mold of OU's most recent offers as he is a bigger back (6'0" 200 lbs) who has a tough, physical running style. He rarely, if ever, goes down at first contact and could potentially bring a physicality to the RB position that the Sooners have missed this year. Obviously only time will tell whether the Sooners can convince Roberts to drop the Hogs, but the odds appear to be in our favor as things stand today.
