2011 Recruit Spotlight: Defensive End Nathan Hughes

Bobby Jack Wright and James Patton teamed together to land Klein, Texas defensive end Nathan Hughes from Klein Oak High School in Spring, Texas. 

Hughes helped his team advance to the second round of the state playoffs by averaging almost 8 tackles per game. He finished the season with a total of 93 tackles and 7 quarterback sacks. He also had two kick blocks this season. 

Listed at 6-6/263, Huges is rated as a four star recruit by Rivals. The recruiting site also has him listed as the nation's 19th best defensive end prospect and the 36th best football prospect in the state of Texas. His max bench is listed as 315 and squat 450.

Despite receiving 25 scholarship offers, Hughes only took an on campus visit with the Sooners. Among the schools seeking him were conference foes Baylor, Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Texas Tech. He also received offers from national powers Alabama, LSU and TCU. He committed to Oklahoma in September of 2010.
