Last but not least Sooner fans, your 2011 Recruit Spotlight coverage wraps up with the final member of the OU 2011 recruiting class TE Dan Tapko. Tapko is a kid that played both TE and DE in high school and was recruited at both positions by multiple schools. Ultimately it was his desire to play offense and now former OU coach Kevin Wilson's ability to convince him to come to Norman. For those unfamiliar, Tapko's high school Rockhurst is a MO powerhouse program and a school OU frequently recruits in the KS/MO area.
Tapko is a kid that will definitely need a year to learn the system and put on some weight, but he is unique in that he's much more advanced as a blocker than most h.s. TEs. It's that factor that will definitely help him in his ability to work his way up the depth chart and also why the name Brody Eldridge has been tossed around when searching for comparisons to Tapko. That's not to say that he isn't a good receiver, just that his future projects more similar to the role Eldridge had during his time at OU as compared to a Jermaine Gresham type TE.
Tapko 6'4" 220 is a three star recruit and the #25 overall TE per Rivals. He turned down offers from Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, and Wisconsin to commit to OU.
And that ladies and gentlemen is your 2011 OU recruiting class!
