It wasn't pretty and it took overtime to get it done, but the OU women were able to salvage the weekend for Sooner Nation by defeating the hated Texas Longhorns in Austin Sunday afternoon.  It was a huge road win for a team that has struggled early on the road, but have now won back-to-back road games.  As an added bonus to the victory, OU sent texass to 0-3 in the conference which marks the first time in program history the whorns have started 0-3 in conference play (can I say ha!  And ha!).

Apparently the men's team terrible shooting was contagious as the women shot almost as poorly as the men did the day before.  OU shot a terrible 30% from the field and 14% from three point range.  Fortunately for OU, Texas was equally poor going 30% from the field and 28% from three.  Similarly to the Texas men's team, the ladies also can't shoot free throws putting up an impressive 63% from the charity stripe.

OU's Danielle Robinson was easily the game MVP, finishing with 30 points (on 11-30 shooting, wow), seven rebounds, and five steals.  Robinson overcame some early shooting struggles, she missed a ton of layups early which is very unusual for D-Rob, and got hot in the 2nd half to carry OU over the whorns.  The only OU player to really help Robinson was freshman Aaryn Ellenberg who finished with 16 points and hit a couple big shots in OT.  Whitney Hand is obviously still playing her way back into game shape and struggled mightily with her shot on Sunday.  Hand finished wth eight points, but was just 2-13 from the field and 0-8 from three.

So credit to Sherri Coale and her team for fighting back after blowing a big lead and pulling out a hard fought win on the road in overtime.  The women's next game will be Wednesday night @ 7pm in Norman against a surprisingly undefeated to this point Lady Red Raiders team.  I can't end without saying nice win ladies and as always . . .

TEXASS!!!!!!!

SUCKS!!!!!!!!
