The last time the Oklahoma Sooners played the Air Force Falcons in football was 2001 when the Sooners took a road trip to Colorado Springs. The Sooners were breaking in a new quarterback that season and after handling the North Carolina Tar Heels in the opener they took Nate Hybl on the road for his first test away from home. The story of the game, however, was Quentin Griffin who rushed for 201 yards and score. Also interesting to know that Jason White was the backup QB and place holder and redshirt freshman receiver Mark Clayton caught an 8-yard touchdown pass.
Defensively the Sooners held the Falcons to just three points and 239 total offensive yards while also forcing four turnovers. Defensive end Cory Heinecke provided the defensive play of the day when he picked up an Air Force fumble and trucked 69-yards to the end zone provide us our final score of 44-3.
